Ohuhu Acrylic Markers Review

Hello everyone! Long time no ”see”, I know, I have no excuse, so I won’t try to make any. Let’s just say that I am back with another review and today I will be talking about Ohuhu acrylic markers, the markers that have infiltrated the whole internet!

Aaaand let’s start with a DISCLAIMER: The markers were sent to me to test and potentially review, but all opinions are my own, blah, blah, blah and there are no affiliate links.

Ohuhu is a brand that is … everywhere, there no single day (quite literally) that it doesn’t fill my feed. Of course I was eager to try their products, and when they sent me some, I was over the moon! Enough said, let’s get to know Ohuhu acrylic markers.

About Acrylic Markers

A couple of years ago I didn’t even know such a product existed. (Of course I knew posca markers, but I didn’t know exactly what they are.) Acrylic markers are everywhere nowadays, they are super popular and they are used in all types of art, pop art, manga, even photorealism. They are … what they say they are: Acrylic in marker form. Which means that they come with the best of all worlds: all advantages of acrylics and all advantages of markers.

The Markers

I got the 30-piece acrylic markers set, which comes in a beautiful “knit-like” case. I am not sure if it is a marketing thing or just random, but the case comes with outlines that can be colored in. I certainly did so! It makes sense, since acrylic markers are usually marketed as “markers that can draw on any surface”.

Color Variety

Even more impressive is the inside of the case:

As I mentioned I got the 30-piece set, which includes some of the brightest colors I have seen. The downhill is that they are too bright for my taste, no organic colors. As a realism artist, I depend on organic colors, but I can see why this color selection appeals to a wider audience.

Opacity

Most markers of the set are 100% opaque, even on black paper. A selection of markers are more transparent than others, but it’s nothing that cannot get fixed, it just needs an additional coat.

Marker tip

Markers come in dual sturdy tips, one large for coloring big areas and one small for fine details. They also include extra tips in the case, how cool is that!

Price

The 30-piece acrylic marker set retails around 30€ on their website (“around” because price depends on which country they send their products to, it was weird, haven’t seen anything like this before, but huge respect for this!) making them currently the most affordable acrylic markers I know of.

Ohuhu in Action

So, what can the great Ohuhu markers can do?? Did they live up to the promise? Honestly? I am primarily a pencil artist, and I don’t enjoy getting out of my comfort zone. This time, I did. (Both. Getting out of my comfort zone and enjoyed it!)

However, to be completely fair, I am now relatively experienced with the medium and I tested it extensively. When I firstly tried Arrtx acrylic markers I had no idea what acrylic markers are. Now I could create a variety of artworks.

The Verdict

Fantastic Markers that you might consider give a try whether you are a professional artist, or you want to draw something on your kids school bag. They are affordable enough to be a staple in every kid’s school supplies. (My daughter confiscated my markers as soon as I tested them, aaaah the joy of having kids!) Even if you are a professional acrylic artist, you might consider mixing them with your paints, I know I did. In any case, I certainly recommend them. Keep drawing!
