If you’ve been following me for a while, you might have noticed that I am somehow obsessed with Arrtx. If you don’t (don’t worry, I don’t judgeXD) Arrtx is “a high quality, affordable art supply brand”. Yep, quote is my own. And no, they don’t pay me!
DISCLAIMER: Arrtx materials were sent to me to try and potentially review. However, this is not a sponsored post, all opinions are my own and there are no affiliate links.
Arrtx
Seriously now, the philosophy behind the brand is affordable materials without loss of quality. And they really do this consistently. Over the couple of years I have tried their colored pencils, Acrylic Markers, and Graphite pencils. In fact I have produced some of my best artworks using their materials. Arrtx never ceases to impress me!
Arrtx Acrylic Markers
Enough already, I’m here today to review their acrylic marker 60-piece regular and anime sets. I have written again and again about my obsession with their acrylic markers, (bookmark this page cause I’m gonna reference it a lot!) but two separate 60-marker sets?!
And for those of you who are new to this blog and to acrylic markers in general, acrylic markers are generally markers with … well … acrylic paint in them! And they come with all advantages and disadvantages of acrylic. They are opaque, permanent, they dry super fast, and once they dry they cannot be blended, washed or removed in any way (unless they are scratched). The most well-known acrylic markers out there that dominate the market, are the notorious posca markers. Well, let me tell you that, they have found a worthy competitor!
General Characteristics
As with most of Arrtx products, these 60-piece acrylic markers come in a minimal stylish cardboard case. Just like their colored pencils, the case holds the markers in a vertical position, so that it takes as little space as possible when open. At the same time, grabbing a certain marker is a piece of cake. Seriously now, the design is genius. Plus, all these colors together, the boxes are a sight for sore eyes. Have you seen anything more beautiful? Aaah, the colors!
Marker Design
They come in a super thin adjustable foam tip, which means the precision that can be achieved is impressive. I honestly expected to see something similar to posca markers. Posca tips are generally thick and they need to be activated in order for the ink to start flowing, which can form random blobs, among other things. Arrtx markers feel like painting with a brush. A high quality one, mind you!
Color Variety
Oh. My. Gosh. I was already impressed with Arrtx 30-piece acrylic marker set. Now at 60 pieces? Arrtx is at a whole new level. With 60 colors you can draw ANYTHING, whether you are a professional arrtx or a kid drawing for fun!
I have to say that you might not need both normal and anime sets, as some colors are exactly the same. Anime markers are more natural, soft, whereas the normal set has also some metallic and some fluo ones.
Color Payoff
They are the most pigmented, the brightest, the most opaque markers that I have tried. So pigmented, they are almost 100% opaque on black paper. I literally couldn’t believe it.
Durability
And some serious research at last! I reviewed their 30-piece acrylic marker set in January 2023, almost two years ago. I attach a photo from that review.
I love this cup. It has survived two years of daily use and countless washes. This is how it looks the today:
I almost cannot believe it. After two years it is still presentable. How is it even possible?
Anyways, to spice things up I decided to draw again on my cup. Let’s see what will happen in two years!
So, yeah ladies and gentlemen, be careful where you draw with your arrtx markers because they will stay there forever.
The joy of drawing
Arrtx markers are very addictive, you just want to draw, draw, draw. To prove my point, my kids fight over arrtx markers, last time they demanded the markers right away. This time I was careful to hide them. When I am finished with this review, I’ll think if I hand them over!
Just for fun I am attaching one of our little projects. A doorstop, supposedly a rainbow cake, sprinkled with sprinkles, with a unicorn on top. The unicorn is my girl’s toy, but you can make one out of polymer clay, or even 3d print one. We plan to make more, cheese and mouse for starters, and we’ll see what happens to them, doorstops, after banging and kicking them all day! Stay tuned!
Price
Each one of the two sets costs 49.99$. In comparison, a single posca marker can cost anywhere from 2 to 6.5$, depending on the size of the brush. Oh, and they are currently having a mega pre-black-Friday sale. Go grab them, you really need to try them at least once!
Disadvantages
There are two main disadvantages.
- The markers are not open stock, when a color is out, you need to repurchase the whole set
- Unfortunately they are not as popular as their main competitors, the posca markers, so they cannot be found locally, just online. (But we can change that, right!?)
So, if you are already hyped you can go and grab the markers here:
